    Trapezium shaped, round or rectangular... what sounds like a geometry task describes the different designs of the cosmetic bags. These accessories trump with a great variety of shapes and give your cosmetics a safe storage solution. Cosmetic bags are small, compact cases for makeup items. An alternative name, therefore, is the makeup bag. Sometimes they are also called toiletry bags, but this is not correct. Unlike a toiletry bag, a cosmetic bag is used for storing and transporting of makeup and other beauty products. A toiletry bag is also intended for hygiene products and bigger tubes, such as shampoo, hair spray etc. and is primarily a travel accessory. Small makeup bags are good for everyday use: they are often carried in a handbag to have all the essentials available. Due to the soft, flexible material, they adapt to the space in the handbag and can be stored even in compact models. A cosmetic bag keeps things in order and protects the lining from possible stains in case the foundation leaks or the powder crumbles. A travel cosmetic bag can do even more: There are versions with a separate jewellery compartment or with a removable, transparent pouch for all tubes containing gel-like or liquid substances – a must-have for flights! A transparent cosmetic bag is also a good choice for all people, who do not want to search for a long time because here you can see the contents from the outside. Another advantage: the transparent cosmetic bag can be easily wiped clean when it becomes soiled.

    Many brands offer handbags or shopping bags with a removable makeup bag. This is usually attached to a special loop inside the bag by a carabiner and can be removed with just one hand. This cosmetic bag, also known as a makeup pouch, keeps things organized and is especially recommended for totes, which often have only one main compartment and one or no inner pockets. A makeup pouch is usually coordinated with the main bag in terms of design. When it comes to the design of "independent" cosmetic bags, there are no (fashion) limits! Inside, there are often end-to-end daisy chains on at least one side – for nail polish bottles, fragrance flacons etc. These cosmetic bags usually close with a circumferential ¾ zip and offer a good overview of all your treasures. Smaller versions are secured with a simple zip fastener that goes from side to side. Many designs have a separate, waterproof bottom compartment for wet tubes. These cosmetic bags are often preferred by men. Other signature feature: A cosmetic bag for men is mostly kept in darker colours. Practical colours are also a feature of travel-friendly models. A travel cosmetic bag offers a capacity of 7 to 10 litres. Many inside and outside pockets are part of the standard features. Also typical are a carrying loop and an additional transparent cosmetic bag.

    Materials and care of cosmetic bags

    Makeup bags are available in many materials. Whether made of high-quality synthetic or natural materials like leather, there is a perfect cosmetic bag for every purpose. Synthetic materials such as nylon and polyester are recommended if you want to place it in the bathroom because they are not sensitive to high humidity as well as water-repellent and quick drying. A cotton makeup bag is also a good choice, especially if it has a waterproof impregnation. Some cosmetic bags of this natural material have a bottom reinforcement made of leather or imitation leather. This ensures that the soft cotton makeup bag has a better stability. If you are looking for a timeless alternative, a leather cosmetic bag is the best choice. It is not only sophisticated but also very durable. Whether a cosmetic bag is made of natural materials or artificial fabrics: the inner lining is mostly synthetic. They are easy to care for and can be cleaned with a damp cloth when dirty. Our tip: Over time, residues of various cosmetic products collect in a makeup bag. To prevent the growth of germs, you should regularly wipe the inside of your cosmetic bag with an antibacterial wipe. Exception: leather cosmetic bags without lining. Here you can use a small hand vacuum cleaner or carefully brush the dirt off.
