It all started in March... What sounds like the beginning of a romance novel, is part of the label's history. The founders, Tamara Taichman and Nicholas Berdugo, got to know each other in March, so they named the label after a combination of their first names, Tila, and the month of their first meeting, March. But the two do not only match well namewise, but also by their long experience in the fashion business. Tamara was editor for the French magazine Elle. The design for the Zelig Bag came from her, because she desperately needed an elegant, practical bag for the fashion weeks. For the realization of her designs her husband Nicholas, who was a marketing director at a leather goods manufacturer, was of big help at this point. Both became a very strong design team whose fame started by developing an it-bag of the premium class and has ascended to the highest league in the fashion world.
