If you think of a sundial when you hear the word solar-watch you are mistaken! Modern solar watches are a technical wonderwork and they work nearly self-sufficient. You might know a thing like that from automatic watches, it can save the energy of the day when it is dark at night. Otherwise the watch would stand still. The solar-run work of the watch needs only a little space and does not influence the possibilities of design. Men’s watches often have a visible solar cell because it fits to the watch’s design and its modest colours. A clockwork does not need much energy, for that a solar watch provides some additional functions. Solar chronographs can be used as stop watch or tachymeter, other frequent functions are calendar or small second. Digital solar watches provide a pulse meter, step counters or a GPS function – and a price according to this features. You have to keep in mind that you cannot offer the same variety of functions like a smartwatch does but you have an accessory that is environmental friendly and low maintenance. Thanks to its quarts gear the solar watch is more accurate as an automatic watch. Is you like a sportier design you should take a digital solar watch with a large display, a synthetic case and a silicone bracelet. It is not only very resistible but usually water resistant as well. An especially noble look is characteristic for solar watches made of stainless steel, on the other hand a leather bracelet appears a bit more classical. A ladies solar watch can be decorated with rhinestones and it usually has a dial in light colours. Additional to classic styles there are some creators presenting more extraordinary looks with an analogue or digital display.
