A company with history

Authenticity, quality, durability – this is what one of the most traditional American labels for outdoor, hunting and workwear and equipment stands for. During the great gold rush of the early 20th century, C.C. Filson founded C.C. Filson's Pioneer Alaska Clothing and Blanket Manufacturers in Seattle to provide adventurers and gold miners on their way to the Yukon with equipment that could withstand the harsh conditions of the cold North. In constant dialogue with its customers from the wood industry, mining and many other sectors, Filson continued to optimize its product range and created unmistakable classics that were not only durable and hard-wearing, but also comfortable. Some of these classics have been in the product range of this traditional company for over 100 years now.

Filson offers a wide range of backpacks, travel bags, shoppers and briefcases, all of which combine comfort, functionality and durability. The natural shades of beige, khaki, muted brown and blue combined with classic shapes and leather details blend in discreetly with every look. The selected materials and the practical features of the bags and luggage offer your belongings optimum protection against sharp objects and any weather conditions. Over time, Filson developed a robust, densely woven cotton canvas treated with a patented oil finish wax to protect workers from dirt, rain and even injuries from sawing or other tools. The characteristic fabric was popularly called "Tin Cloth-Canvas", referred to its armor-like properties.Today, more than 100 years after its development, Filson still uses the natural tin cloth canvas for outdoor clothing, bags and luggage. It is extremely durable, tear-resistant and water-repellent due to its special wax coating.

Sustainability at Filson

Just like in processing, the American label also focuses on tradition, quality and sustainability when it comes to materials. The twill is sourced from Scottish factories that have been working with cotton for over a century. The leather comes from Wickett & Craig, one of the last tanneries in the United States which produces high-quality leather with an eco-friendly process and vegetable tanning agents.
