In Etro bags, totes and purses unite oriental flair and Italian design are united. Bags and purses made of Jacquard combined with leather trimmings became absolute cult objects thanks to their paisley pattern. Their floral prints are the trademarks of Etro bags and because of them the classic bag- and tote shapes are colourful companions for every season.
Etro bags, purses and totes combine Italian design and oriental flair
Since the end of the 1960th the Italian label Etro is a trendsetter. Since then Etro bags, fashion and accessories spread all over the world, from Milano, over Paris to Tokio: you will find the colourful Etro bags everywhere. Classic tote and handbag shapes give a very comfortable look to the Etro women’s bags. Etro bags for men provide a more sporty shape and the colours are quite mute to preserve a masculine look. Artistically printed Jacquard fabrics make Etro very unique. A stylised pattern reminds in flowers, leafs or fruits – this special pattern is called paisley. Originally the paisley pattern covering the Etro bags comes from India. It was the labels founder Gimmo Etro who brought it back to Europe. Of course Paisley was known before but thanks to Etro paisley bags, duffle bags and purses it enjoyed a come-back and is still up-to-date. Who has loud prints in mind now is wrong. Etro bags and totes use their paisley pattern in a very sophisticated way. Usually the floral prints are just a few shades darker than the bag’s basic colour but some of the summer collections provide brightly coloured all-over flower patterns. The most frequently used fabric is jacquard but handles and trimmings are made of genuine leather. Working with colourful patterns for a long time Etro mastered this art perfectly. Thanks to that Etro bags are sensational eye-catchers.
The family business Etro provides charmingly unique bags and fashion
In 1968 Gerolamo Etro, called Gimmo, founded his own label. The economist who always had an affection for traveling was inspired by the orient when starting his business. Colourful patterns and floral elements of Etro bags, purses and accessories make the paisley pattern modern again. A colourful, lively flair is very typical for Etro bags and it became the label’s trademark. Still Etro is a family business, at the moment it is run by the brothers Ippolito, Jacopo and Kean Etro. Since 1998 their sister Veronica works as a designer for the label as well. By now Etro offers Duffle bags, perfumes and jewellery and became a complete life-style brand.
